Lichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir has around 35 members and was founded to help provide music for cathedral services during the Choral Foundation’s holidays. The Chamber Choir’s activities now also include concerts, guest appearances at other cathedrals and Sunday morning broadcasts on BBC Radio 4. It regularly provides the choir for the Remembrance Day service and Naming Ceremony at the National Memorial Arboretum.

June 2021
It is now well over a year since the whole choir met in person but we are managing to maintain our ‘spirit of togetherness’ whilst keeping within Covid restrictions and guidelines. We have become used to online rehearsals and social events, always with the hope and expectation of being able to rehearse in the Cathedral later this year. The online highlight was probably on Good Friday when we had a very enjoyable rehearsal, followed by a performance (to ourselves), of music appropriate to the day.
Small numbers of singers have been able to take part in services in the Cathedral on a few occasions in recent months. It seems nothing is certain nowadays but the next planned occasion is on Saturday 26th June when a few members will be singing for the Solemn Eucharist for the Hallowing, Dedication and Unveiling of the new statue of St Chad. Find out more about the new statue and the Hope Garden where it will be situated.

Tenors and Basses

The choir would welcome more tenors and basses. If you are interested, please contact our Musical Director, Martyn Rawles, who would be delighted to hear from you.
