Lichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir
is a lively, friendly and committed group of around 35 singers conducted by Martyn Rawles. The choir performs in a range of services, concerts and events both in the Cathedral and more widely. It also sings the liturgy in the Cathedral when the Cathedral Choir is on holiday.
Sunday 17th July 2022
The last engagement for the choir before the summer break is to sing for services in the Cathedral on Sunday 17th July. This Sunday marks the final day of the Lichfield Festival.
As part of the Eucharist service (10:30am) we are pleased to be singing the Gloria, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei from Kodaly's Missa Brevis. This work was completed in 1945 as Kodaly sheltered from the Red Army in the cellar of the Opera House in Budapest.
The motet at Evensong (3:30pm) will be Bach:
Jesu, meine Freude (BWV 227).
The choir has vacancies for tenor voices.
The Chamber Choir sings for services in the Cathedral on many occasions every year.
